忽然之间有感而发。。。

最近一位伯伯教会了我一个做人的道理。

不论做任何事，最重要的就是快乐，绝对不可以开心。

...."开心和快乐不都一样吗？"

嗯。。。我看就称他为 TT爷爷 吧！

TT爷爷说：开心就等于把心打开。会痛，也会留下伤口。

曾经，刚开始踏入社会不久，我也开心过，也有过这么一个知心朋友。想把内心深处的想法，期望，顾虑全都告诉他。

可惜。。。像阵风一样，这个知心的朋友来的快，去的也快。还来不及走进，那扇门就狠恨的锁上了。

是我变了吗？遗憾。

不过，能够遇到 TT爷爷 真的好好喔。

至少在需要心灵休息时候，终于找到一个可以让我微笑，充电的角落。很可贵呢！

从今以后，我也要做个快快乐乐的女孩！

But when it comes to all things in life, Mindy really has no expectations. Totally null.

So much so that I find it amazing when friends around me start telling me about how they are mapping out their 5 year plan from now. Getting flats, career, chapters of life... I used to do all of that when I was younger (not the flats of cos, the gov havent made the announcement yet) and I have to admit, these plans really motivate and gets you somewhere in the end - it cleared a big bulk of my uni debts (:

But right now, being the random and ever changing mindy, as long as it's a good day spent, it's a day earned!

I actually sound like I'm degrading... lol. But somehow I like this carefree state now.

Oh wells... Seeing people around me obsessed with brands really gets me confused at times. Marketing, propaganda - the effects they bring about, the courage they summon up for girls to bomb a few k on bags and yet think it's worth every cent. Salutes for every single piece of integrated effort, really.

But i very much rather be on the sending end than receiving end in this case... (:

Ironic how I hate the effects of marketing yet enjoys, delights and pursues a dream in being one of those manipulators up there. Tempting satisfaction. I wonder how long it will take for me to go there. haha.

Speaking of brands, Let's come back to today's topic: i'm so easy to please

Ahhhh yes, Im so easy to please. especially when it comes to food.

Mindy is a food court girl! I absolutely enjoys eating food court compared to some fine dining restaurant. THEY DONT HAVE BA CHOR MEE ON THEIR MENU. HOW CAN.

Judging from at most $4 bucks per meal. Skipping breakfast, 8 bucks a day, 365 days a year, it only cost 224 bucks per month and 2920 bucks per year to feed and maintain mindy!

Just the other day,

My ma told me she had a strange dream.

She dreamed of her giving birth to a younger brother. Apparently, me, my dad and my sis were there at the hospital as well.

Got so excited and started asking my mum to make it come true.

"5 people, one lift; one devil among them"

You would have thought this must be some kind of lousy budget flick flooded with horrible bloody scenes and heart jumping sound effects. must be some abstract ruse by M. Night Shyamalan - those people could have driven him to the wall. Like what can they possibly unveil in one and a half hour within that very same scene?

...This is good, seriously.

Devil was nowhere like that. Okays, I'm biased and overrating this because of Brian Nelson, the writer of this movie.

"Bad thing happens for a reason" You are in it because of something that you have done, you have been chosen as the audience to witness everything for a reason too. Well this is what i've always believed in and that it works both side too.

Take responsibility for what you have done, all the wrongs you have committed. It's the only way out to end things.

The lines and plot are just so interesting! Confined to a small space while keeping you on tenterhooks, guessing which human form Devil is in. And the lines... just keep me thinking and thinking.

I love movies like this which evokes me into thinking further even after the story ends. Plus there wasnt much horribly scary scenes too!

I wonder if anyone has been through this stage now.

Or rather, have you pause and stop in life to take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask "hey, who are you?"

No offense here. But get real, this is survival. We are no longer in some kind of sheltered environment. Or perhaps, we weren't even protected in the first place. The masks are merely kept from the open for the conflict of interests which have yet to arise.

I'm really happy that I am still myself now. That is the best bonus i get currently.

But in life, there can never be the ultimate perfection in everything. If there's good, there's always space for bad.

As much as I love the people and the comfort of being myself, I know I can't stay. And neither can I voice out my woes for the very same reason.

Mindy is still a seedling, besides love, she needs to be watered with other essential minerals. Hungry for knowledge, thirsty for experience; the seedling wants to grow up.

Every day, every night, she anticipates the arrival of spring, the season when she will finally blossom and sway happily in the wide big field. The season of harvest when she will truly flourish.

My dear friends and priorities who see this post, I'm really glad you are here with me as my strongest support. I hope you too will hold onto your precious values and grow up strongly! (:

Was browsing through facebook and saw this silly post which I did last year. Thought it was rather amusing. So here goes...

1. I stink like mad as I'm posting this cos I just came back from a long jog around compass point.

2. Ridiculously, I still can't outgrow the habit of kicking around the mimosa to get the thrill of seeing it close by itself.

3. Hate the fella who made degree a MUST to survive in Singapore. It's just another piece of paper to add to the collection unless you really like what u are studying.

4. Loves eating the hamburger separated layer by layer and is always full by the time I'm done with the buns and left with the patty. =.="

5. Cries secretly every time the kid my mum babysits leaves our family for school.

6. Regrets doing this note now that I realise there are still 20 more random to go. =.=

7. Oh ya, I'm hopelessly poor in sports, swimming and dancing since when I was young cos my legs and arms can never seem to co ordinate.

19. The most expensive chee cheong fun which I have eaten cost me $3.50 for one small roll in lavender food court near the famous pig organ's stall.

20. I am glad that there's only 5 more to go down the list. *phew*

21. Thinks the face of mine looks like a full moon but I like to convince myself that it's a crescent. - DON'T COMMENT ON THIS.

22. Extremely clumsy and have always been getting into accidents one after another since poly yr one. Toned down a lil since uni and I pray it continues this way.

23. Went celebrating with vbff eating nasi lemak and selegie soyabean curd when I reached my highest peak - Jogging all the way from Sengkang to Kovan.

24. I am actually an introvert person and I have very low self-esteem. Often do not know how to strike up conversations with new ppl.

25. Almost fainted when i heard that a bowl of soyabean curd costs my friend S$4 in Australia. Dropped my jaw on the table when it cost $6.50 for a piece of Roti Prata.

My first Sports Day after so long and i was deeply traumatised.

After 5 rounds of non-stop sprinting not to mention going dizzy from those track lines, I still couldn't outrun this uncle! Forever the gap between us cant seem to close by less than half of the stadium. Sighs. Mindy is going to train very very hard now. Uncle you wait... Next time i will zooooom past you. hahaha!

But hougang stadium can be quite interesting. Spotted these few "wonders" around while resting...

1. A guy who got so tired from stretching that he literally fell asleep in a sleeping buddha position even before starting to jog.

2. Two men who started a public massage session. Okays, from my point of view, it looks like one was groping the other.

....

NEXT.

3. A pair of very energetic mum and daughter who just threw off their shoes and started to dash round the track barefooted randomly out of nowhere. Hmmms.. kids and housewives nowadays are very stressed up too.

4. Some trying very hard to work out kid running and pushing his ka-la-qia around the track at full speed.

I've always had the habit of observing people for some reason.. I guess the stadium is a good place after all! minus away the groping part.

Karate Kid

It's 5 mins to 2am now. There's a report waiting for me, a whole bed of clothes piled at least 10 cm to tidy and sort out AND, I haven even shower.

....

But I simply have to blog about this!

the Karate Kid is just awesome! The 2 Js are really the perfect combination. (: And Jackie Chan has aged gracefully as one of those "i know a lot, but have retired from the scene" kind of uncle character. Such a big contrast from when I saw him in my first movie shouting "whoooo am I-eeeeeee!!" Jaden Smith really takes after his dad; acting blood runs in the family.

Before the show, I got to admit I was actually quite negative, thinking that this should be juvenile. But it proves to be the exact opposite. They did a great job in balancing comedy with kung fu action! Ok, I'm seriously going to watch the pursuit of happiness by the Smith father and son after watching this. =)

So much for staying at home to rot on a Saturday.

Thanks to the stress reliever I can always count on! (: Time to hit the showers! Looks like it's going to be another work till morning session. haha! tata!

Been freaking busy this whole week and I can so foresee more crazy moments coming up.

So many things that only serve to drown you in endless unrest which only leaves you pondering at the end of the day "what have I been doing and for what?"

I've always believed that there is a reason for our every existence.

It's time to stop living life; start to live life.

Begging and crying for more time to sleep and rest, all this has got to stop.

Family and friends who have stood by me all this while, I feel thankful yet sorry for any negligence. Really glad to be favored.

I have to stop living for others, and start living for myself. Now that is one thing I have been and will not compromise from now on.

But... there's always a first time for everything! So, bear with me if I sounded like a 3 year old in err certain parts of this post.

Just want to say... If I ever get the chance, I will be super happy to be part of the team organising the new product launch parties for Canon! I was so impressed with how well thought the whole party was. They must have had a really Big Bang Budget to come up with it. Ahhh... It's such a cool thing to plan a party without any budget constraints!

*AND.. it certainly doesn't hurt to know that the venue of the party was held in our very own Universal Studios Singapore! Double yayss! =))

This should have been done like a week ago but well, you know, procrastination can keep one really "busy"

... which is why one of my new year's resolution is to 1) Stop procrastinating and get on with what needs to be done! That is to say I'm going along with Nike - yes, JUST DO IT! I hope this will make my life err slightly more meaningful. (Ok, so ive practically wasted 21 years of life, but it's still not too late if i get to live till 70? - if i'm lucky enough)

WHAT? even Barney is getting ahead of me? *SOBS*

Anyways, 2) Start treating my family better instead of taking em for granted all the time.

3) Get a full time job*

*i) near my place - cos i'll prob die from the traveling if I'm to work at the west
ii) has an interesting job scope which is relevant to what ive been studying
iii) pays well enough so that i can clear my study debt in the quickest time possible
iv) surrounded by awesome colleagues with zero politics - which is super impossible unless i apply for the post of zookeeper or something. I suppose monkeys, elephants and the tigers wont back stab each other for more bananas or another 1 kilo of meat.

Sighs, I sure hope i land myself in a good job soon. Been acting like a parasite feeding off the family. And this really gets on my nerves. ARGH

4) Start expanding my social circle and stop acting like some emo kid who cant loosen up.

I guess this happens to a lot of people when you feel comfortable with friends whom you've known for a long time and haven had much problems with.

5) Stop sleeping as if 10 hours a day is the minimum required rest for human body which is completely fictional and made up by yours truly.

Awww...

6) Wise up when it comes to relationships and hope that intelligence level rise up from that pathetic zero.

Wasting 5 years holding that silly torch light has been more than enough.

7) Start eating more fish in an attempt to recover or rather retain what remains for now. SIGHS. I think only vbff and cousin knows what im talking about. I swore i would have downed 2kg of fish per day in my sec school days if i had knew about it earlier.

8) Get that puppy which i have always wanted since god knows when (:

9) Visit my dearest abra with the rest in korea and have a proper graduation trip

10) Go bangkok and continue my sinful shopping and eating indulgence in May with Jingwei and the rest hopefully

11) Start acting less clumsy and stop getting blue blacks on the legs and hands all the time.

12) Keep up with that 120 half crunches per day - very important or else 80% of my wardrobe will have to be eradicated.

13) Most importantly, start loving and stop hating (:

So i decided it was time to come out of the shell today and do something useful, meaningful. ~~I had nothing better to do cos the rain spoiled my intended picnic trip~~

Yup. I finally got around to opening up my resume, editing here and there, browsing the tons of job advertisements on jobscentral. And I'm still not done with sending the resumes.
...Each resume i send out has to individualised with their own cover letter. Not that I'm sending a lot out. But the whole process is seriously exhausting.

And the bulk which I am interested in wanted candidates with experience.
Looks like chances are pretty much gone.

I swear I felt so stress that I nearly grab the babybliss curler and start twisting my hair around them like some mad kid.

And for some reason, i simply love seeing bottles of such nice hard liquor displayed in the glass cabinet side by side. It's such a pretty sight! Ok, next time i shall buy more for collection!

Kimage School of Hairdressing

After seeing lots of good reviews on forums about Kimage School of Hairdressing, i decided to give it a go. Well well... what should i say? These people weren't just being nice in their reviews, it was really a great experience! :)

A note of advice tho: Make an appointment at least one day in advance to enjoy 10% off the hair services and prepare for long waiting time. Don't rush them and they will do a really good job (:

Maybe it's better to compare by putting them side by side.

The whole waiting time, colouring (one colour), treatment and temp curling process (lasted only a few hours) took me about 4 hours. The colour i did was Dark copper brown 4.4.2 if i rem correctly. And the senior hair stylist there was super nice! He was like OMG OMG you should go perm your hair girl! He reminded me so much of my dear daddy pimp fayeruz. hahaha! All these for just $42. So worth it!

And for some reason, I am really happy with the hair colour cos not only does it helps me to cover the black roots and blend when they pop out...

Most importantly...

The hair colour is similar to the one EUN HYE HAS IN MY FAIR LADY!

first we had lunch at suki sushi, then we went back to her house for DIY hair dye using the latest Liese bubble foam dye. (And btw, it's retailing cheaper at this store outside hougang mall) Results were good according to her. And we even tried dyeing our own eyebrows. which was really damn funny...

After settling her hair, we headed to my place for dinner. While we were at KFC ordering food, I started to realise..

Called up the banks to cancel the cards and all. Thanks cousin for the reminder. Really appreciated the company (: But i cant seem to cheer up with her jokes.

First few days of job never fails to bore me. The fact that sotong me forgot to bring the ear piece doesnt help either. =.= And so from 9am to 6pm, music was totally out of my life. MAY DAY!!

The most funny experience today has got to be a sight i saw at a colleague's desk today. On the monitor, there was a mirror sticked to it. And on the left, I caught a reflective surface from a CD ROM sticking from a corner. I wonder if he uses all these himself. HAHAHA

okok, i think it's about time to blog abt smt on my boring life before this blog really becomes history.

well, school's been ok so far but finance is really killing us. It doesnt help that i have like complete zero background in it. sighs. hmmmm, probably that's the reason why my savings acct is always hitting that awesome border 2 digit line.. Lack of personal financing skills! argh!

okok, enough of the gloomy stuff.

Some personal issues to think about. Recently has been a real exciting period i would say. Got to witness more slices of life myself.. getting caught in them somemore! hahaha. Was quite taken aback at first but i guess these are just peanuts once we step into the workforce. But one thing im glad is, most of my dearie friends still managed to hold on to their principles and values (: It feels as if nothing has changed with them by my side! hehe

And seriously, Im a man trapped in a woman's body... with the spirit of an obasan.
Are girls supposed to feel happy and paint that kind of lalala clouds floating ard fantasy when guys compliment them on their looks and yadahyadah? - it only gives me goosebumps and make me feel like vomiting whenever i get such comments.

My idea of a romantic date? Nope, not flowers and exp chocs. it's like so embarrassing to be caught dead with a huge bouquet of flowers and you cant squeeze them into your bag so others cant see it. Grocery shopping in a large hyper mart will be more my style! esp carrefour, giant. I'm really amazed and always love exploring all the different brands for the same product. I'll prolly end up together with some supermarket manager as my future bf. LOL

I had such a wonderful day today!

Baking with obaning was such a fun thing to do... :DD The blueberry cum cranberry cheesecake was a yummy success! :D too bad my 2.0 megapixel phone cant do any justice to it... so.. no photos! sorry!

Love the catching up with oba especially.. hehe! so long since the obas have spent some quality time together. And her daddy, mummy and Tara were super nice to me too! Thanks for the dinner and warm hospitability uncle auntie! :)

I'm deeply influenced by this show called the hills seriously. wrapping up season 4!

Yes yes, it's another so-called american reality tv show with all the bitching, flirting and all going on. You know; Girls' stuff.

But it's really given me much light on how i really want my life to become. I'm turning 21 pretty soon. There are just these priorities in life that i would want to set straight. As we grow up, people whom i would refer to as friends only gets lesser tho acquaintances expand nevertheless.

No matter how tired or busy one is, there's always time to maintain a friendship.

It's my last holiday now, getting together with those I treasured and love will be the top on the list. :D

Oh.. and my new job starts tomorrow! I'm seriously excited about it tho it's just a small company. It gives me a preview of what I would love to do in future.

....Got to start preparing the clothes, directions and do some background info on the company before turning in.

Hello all!

This blog is like erms.. still alive after all! Well, at least I'm finally updating.. haha

Seriously, there's nothing much to update on my life. Just working; from Takashimaya's Italian fair to Expo food fair which ended on 2 June. - Thank goddness it's over . Haha, but i'm glad to have met the wonderful crappy foursome there. If only they could have shifted with us to expo, things would have been perfect. But you always meet someone who irritates you in a way or another so I guess we just have to live with it - since it's just 5 days anyways.

Oh, and Exam results are out. All passed :) Glad to move on to the next semester! Thanks to lm who helped me check out my grades. It's the first time i get nervous from getting his call. lol! Heard that one of the friends didnt do really well, so hope his appeal is successful..

Had some drinks with some CCD tempuras and i really love the company. It unwinds a person big time. :D

And i simply have to credit qian ning aka obaning for this: Thanks for asking us to join the SPCA flagday with ya today! it was tiring but very meaningful! Do get us along for more volunteer activities like these! :DDD

But I'm so so happy from meeting up with abra gang today! A pity yiwen lil sis couldn't join us.. miss her so much! You know, it's really nice to see em all again, kboxing, shokudo, crapping and desserting at giraffe. Reminds me of the times we had back in sec sch days...
Spent way too much today but this might be the last time i enjoy myself before works kicks in later so heck it! And it's certainly worth it with the right company like jas, abra, meli and ada ;)

Recent incidents have got me into serious thinking. The symptoms are so real, it feels as though that it's back to haunt me. I have been managing well these few months after graduation. But... I guess I gotta watch it carefully again.

Can't believe i actually got the tuition dates mixed up and turned up as an unexpected visitor aka dream crasher. luckily, Aston (whom i'm starting to really enjoy teaching) was nice enough to entertain me in amidst his nap. My heart goes out for the poor boy.

One thing which brightens up my day has got to be... my fav 9pm show!! Too bad its ending in 1 more ep! It's really fun how me and my dear da sao actually discussed about the show with much interaction. hahaha

Another piece of good news! My vbff aka M2M is officially attached!! Yays! (I sought permission from her to announce this) It actually warranted the attention of 3 guai students preparing for their exams late in the middle of the night to drop their notes and sit in front of the monitor, exclaiming in delight.

Well, anyways, I'm happy for you la! I wonder when will it be my turn. Fate seems to be taking forever. But i'm sure glad that its found my dearie friends! :DDD

I think my brain has just officially pronounced its death.

I'm done with my first bonding session with Business Ethics and Service Quality, and now it's AMCA.

Seriously, i would very much prefer taking the test last semester dealing with the chicken pox and scar dissonance again. The exam hints given for this semester sucks big time...!
There are like tons of stuff to revise and go through; i bet it's at least 50% more stuff to cover. >.<

Okays, this is really random you know. But i've a question here:

Would you repay your parents for the uni school fees they have invested in ya?

Some random conversation led me to thinking about this. I was really taken aback when i heard this answer:

No need to pay one lah. Pay for what? They are your parents leh.

Okaaays, this might be the answer for some rich man's sons and daughters. But i'm pretty sure it's definitely not in the context of this person i'm talking about here.

Thanks to carmen that we got the discounted rates! The fish spa was super ticklish but it was definitely a good experience! hehe

Now i can finally SIT on my computer chair! and I'm so proud of the wardrobe!! although I know this condition probably won't last me more than a week.

Life's really really bored just studying without working
... I'm certainly enjoying it. No complains! (:

I know it has only been one month since i've quitted my job from TP, but it's made such a huge difference. Now I have time for myself, for my family and for catching up with friends. Finallyy.

Anyways, I've been hooked to this reality show from mtv.com recently. It's called the Hills. The story goes around this girl called Lauren. After graduating from high school, Lauren moved to Los Angeles and interns for teen vogue while studying in a fashion design school. She gets to live in her own apartment with a friend Heidi, going to parties, clubs having all the fun in LA. Did I mention that she's got a nice flashy car of her own as well? HOW COOL IS THAT?

Nah. She is definitely not the shy sweetie type. My little sister here talks non-stop and she sure is street-smart for her age. Can you imagine a 4 year old walking up to adults whom she doesnt even know, wishing em gong xi fa cai on CNY wearing a big big smile on her face? hahaha. That's why she always gets more ang baos than other kids. Just too cute!

Origin of 犯太岁

You know, I've been thanking and praying to Tai sui (太岁) for so many years since young but I have no idea what exactly is it about until Carmen starts asking me. haha so I googled and found this: Tai sui Origin

Tai Sui (太岁) basically refers to the 60 deity generals. Each year, they will take take turn to be the in charge of the well-being of the Mortal World. So... if your zodiac clashes with the general that year, its equivalent to offending them (犯太岁) - meaning you got to spend 8 bucks like me to offer prayers in the temple under a master's help for a smooth year ahead. T.T

Oh, and do remember that you need to thank them again on the following year. Before 2010's Chinese new year, you will need to thank the 太岁 in the temple again for taking care of you in 2009. Dragons are especially unlucky, consecutively 犯太岁 for 2 years.

... Right, I got to thank the 2008 太岁 and then pray to the 2009 太岁 to take care of me. =.=
